Programs

Texas Mission of Mercy

Texas Mission of Mercy (TMOM) is the flagship program of TMOM, Inc. It operates as a traveling dental clinic that visits four communities across Texas every year to offer charitable dental care to individuals who lack access due to financial, geographic, or other barriers.

Each event is hosted in collaboration with local leaders and powered by volunteer dental professionals and non-clinical helpers from all over the state.

Depending on the venue and resources available, TMOM events can treat up to 700 patients in just two days—providing services such as dental cleanings, fillings, and tooth extractions at no cost to the patient.

Our Mission

We believe that no one should suffer from untreated dental pain or infection simply because they can’t afford care.
That’s why TMOM exists—to:

Our ultimate goal is to bridge the gap in access to dental care for Texans in need.

TMOM Events

TMOM hosts four major mobile dental clinics annually in different communities across Texas.

Each event is:

  • Two days (Friday and Saturday)

  • Begins at 6:00 AM

  • Operates on a first-come, first-served basis until full capacity is reached

Depending on the community's needs and the setup size, hundreds of patients are seen and treated over these two-day periods. Patients do not need insurance, identification, or money. Just arrive early and be prepared to wait, as walk-ups are welcome and encouraged.

If You’re Here, You’re Family. No ID. No Insurance. No Barriers.

UPCOMING EVENTS

What is a
Pre-Screen?

Before each TMOM treatment event, we offer 2–3 Pre-Screen dates for patients who want to plan ahead. These are scheduled appointments that allow us to:

  • Review dental needs in advance

  • Create individual treatment plans

  • Prioritize more complex cases

  • Speed up the process on treatment day

  • Guarantee treatment for those who attend

Important
Notes:

Pre-Screen is by appointment only

  • Information is released 3 months before each event

  • Registration opens 2 months before each event

  • Follow us on social media for the latest updates and links to sign up

While Pre-Screening is not required, it comes with two big benefits: shorter wait times and guaranteed treatment. Still, walk-ups are always welcome and make up roughly 70% of our patients.

Who is
Eligible?

TMOM serves anyone age 8 and older who needs basic dental care.
There are no residency, income, or insurance requirements.

What to
Bring:

Please bring a list of any medications you are currently taking.

We do not require:

  • Identification or ID cards

  • Insurance information

  • Proof of address or income

  • Any form of payment

Our services are provided 100% free of charge thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, community partners, and volunteers.

Treatments
Available:

At TMOM events, we offer basic but essential dental care to relieve pain, stop the spread of infection, and help patients regain their smiles.

Treatments include cleanings, fillings and extractions.

How We Prioritize Care:

Because time and resources are limited, we focus first on what is causing the most pain or infection. Treatment is determined by our dental professionals based on a brief exam during Pre-Screen or on the day of the event.

Some patients may be able to receive more than one type of service, such as a cleaning and a filling, or multiple extractions. However, this depends on:

  • The complexity of treatment needed

  • Available time and volunteer resources

  • The patient’s overall dental condition

Our goal is to help as many people as possible while ensuring everyone receives safe and effective care. Each patient is treated on a case-by-case basis with compassion and professionalism.

How It Works

TMOM is designed to make free dental care as smooth and accessible as possible—whether you’ve scheduled a Pre-Screen or are walking up on the day of the event. Here's what you can expect:

When You Arrive
There are two separate lines at the entrance:

Pre-Screen Line

This line is for patients who have already attended a Pre-Screen appointment prior to the event.

  • These patients go directly to Vitals, skipping the registration and triage steps, because Vitals has a 24-hour grace period.

  • After vitals, patients proceed to the waiting area for treatment.

  • Wait times are very short for pre-screened patients since they are prioritized at the start of the day.

Walk-Up Line

This line is for patients who did not attend a Pre-Screen.

  • Walk-up patients are admitted after all Pre-Screened patients have gone through.

  • Once admitted, they’ll follow a step-by-step care process designed to ensure they receive the most appropriate treatment.

The Care Process for Walk-Up Patients

1. Patient Registration

The initial check-in where patients provide essential medical history and basic health information.

WRB_2518.jpg

2. Vitals

Healthcare professionals record vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate to assess overall health before treatment.

3. Triage

Dentists evaluate dental conditions to determine urgency and severity. This helps prioritize care and plan treatments.

4. X-Rays

Digital X-rays are taken to provide detailed images of your teeth and jaw, allowing for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

5. Waiting Area

After X-rays, patients wait to be called for treatment. Wait times vary but our volunteers work hard to serve everyone safely and efficiently.

6. Treatment

This is the heart of TMOM’s mission. Licensed dental professionals provide cleanings, fillings, or extractions, relieving pain and restoring smiles with expert, compassionate care.
